Brockhampton fans just celebrated the news that a new album from the group is due soon. As it turns out, another one is on the way -- and it may be the group's finale.
On Wednesday (March 31), founding Brockhampton member Kevin Abstract posted a tweet -- something he took a yearlong break from in 2020 -- letting fans know that the group would be putting out another album this year, before potentially parting ways for good. "2 brockhampton albums in 2021 - these will be our last," he tweeted.
The band announced last week that their upcoming album, Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine, would be out April 9 via Question Everything/RCA Records. While Abstract didn't share any further details on the second album of 2021, he did announce that a new song from the album would drop Thursday night. "New single tmrw night," he wrote. "Summer time vibes. Ride around with the windows down with ya best friend singing super loud to the chorus type vibe - shows the other side of the album. See Yal tmrw."
The rapper also promoted the group's upcoming show "Live From the Chapel," a livestream "moment" filmed at Rick Rubin's legendary Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, which Abstract said would be completely different from any other livestream his fans have watched. "We’ve been rehearsing like crazy for it," he wrote. "And we were able to shoot on anamorphic lenses with an Alexa mini. It will play more like a movie. A concert from the future."
Twitter users were immediately skeptical of Abstract's announcement of the group's final album, pointing out that back in 2017, the group had promoted their Saturation III project as "the last studio album by Brockhampton," before going on to release two more studio albums after.
