Taylor Swift has written a brand-new poem that will be part of her latest exclusive vinyl edition for her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl.
She revealed The Life of a Showgirl: The Crowd is Your King edition on social media, writing, “A showgirl knows to save some of her best tricks for the grand finale…”
This special release will be offered only at Target. It will be pressed on opaque pink and pale-yellow pearlescent vinyl accented with gold, a color mix Swift described in her post as “Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer.” In addition to the handwritten poem, the package will come with a custom gatefold cover, a two-sided poster, full album lyrics, and a collection of new photos that fans haven’t seen before.
Swift has revealed several different versions of The Life of a Showgirl, though the packaging varies, each one will carry the same set of 12 songs. The album is scheduled for release next Friday, Oct. 3, and will mark her 12th studio album following 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department.
For this project, Swift reunites with renowned producers Max Martin and Shellback, her first collaboration with them since 2017’s Reputation. She put the record together in between shows on her Eras Tour, and the title song will include a guest appearance from Sabrina Carpenter.
To celebrate the launch of The Life of a Showgirl, Swift is planning a short theatrical run from Oct. 3 through 5. Fans who attend will get an early look at the video for the lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” lyric videos for other new tracks, behind-the-scenes clips from the album’s creation, as well as detailed breakdowns of what inspired each song.
