Wale was one of the most respected MCs of the 2010s, building a reputation through a standout mixtape run that included The Mixtape About Nothing as a key highlight. During that time, he also released some of his most memorable albums, including Ambition in 2011, SHINE, The Gifted, and others. Since 2019, though, the D.C. native has slowed down his output, leaving fans waiting for a proper return.
After hinting at a comeback over the past year, Wale is now officially ready to release a new project. According to Hip Hop N More, he spoke exclusively with Billboard about Everything Is a Lot, his first major release since 2021’s Folarin II. That album included his last Hot 100 charting track, “Poke It Out” featuring J. Cole.
The tracklist for the upcoming project has already been revealed, though it currently shows no guest features. That may change before the release, but some of the producers involved have been named. BNYX, Salaam Remi, Kel-P Vibes, Go Grizz, Streetrunner, Emil, and Genio are among the talents shaping the sound of the album.
Wale also shared more about the direction and emotional core of Everything Is a Lot, describing it as an open and serious body of work. “One of the underlying things is how heavy everything is in the world around me, my personal life, and the industry. I carried all of that with me and got it out of my system through this project,” he said.
He added that his goal was “to express a certain level of vulnerability,” expanding on this in his Instagram announcement. “Letting go of what I can’t change. Watching the industry become unrecognizable in real time… people forgetting about me. Trying to find purpose in a thankless industry. New ns actin like I’m a new n. (U lot are crazy for that sh*t ngl) Changing labels. Changing management. Finding love but scared to scar from it. When panic meets uncertainty under a sensitive microscope… The highs the lows. The most uncertain moments of my career are ahead of me. Im ready for what ever tho.”
Everything Is a Lot will be released on Friday, November 14.
