Lady Gaga has unveiled The Dead Dance on Wednesday.
The pop superstar crafted the dark, Thriller-inspired song for the second season of Tim Burton’s popular Netflix gothic series.
With a beat reminiscent of the Michael Jackson classic, Gaga delivers the lyrics: “When you killed me inside, that’s when I came alive.
“You’ve created a creature of the night/ Now I’m haunting your air, your soul, your eyes.”
A dramatic music video directed by Burton is reportedly in the works.
Gaga, who is also set to appear in the new season, revealed the news during Spotify and Netflix’s Wednesday Graveyard Gala in New York City last week: “I had a wonderful time working on Wednesday season two, even though my role is minor.
“I loved working with Tim Burton and Jenna [Ortega, Wednesday Addams] and everyone here; it feels so amazing. Thank you. I am also here to confirm that my song The Dead Dance is coming.”
The Abracadabra singer will take on the role of Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore Academy professor whose hidden past becomes connected to Ortega’s Wednesday.
According to Variety, the track was co-written with her Mayhem collaborators Andrew Watt and Cirkut.
Adding to the excitement around Gaga’s appearance, she and Burton were seen filming on Mexico’s eerie Island of the Dolls, a haunted site filled with broken dolls and chilling stories. Burton praised Gaga, saying: “She is such an artist… working with her is endlessly inspiring.”
Gaga told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year about her involvement in the series: “I do not want to spoil anything about being on the show.
“I want to keep it very secret, but I love Jenna and I truly had an incredible experience.”
Her season two role follows the viral success of the show’s famous dance scene that fans paired with her 2011 hit Bloody Mary.
