Bowling For Soup frontman Jaret Reddick has assured fans that his teenage son is doing well after an accidental fall during his very first crowd surfing experience.
The "Girl All the Bad Guys Want" rocker watched his 13 year old son enjoy riding above the audience at the band's recent show at Cardiff Castle before the moment took an unexpected turn when, as Jaret joked, "gravity" stepped in.
Thankfully, Everett escaped without injury, and the singer expressed his gratitude to the fans who rushed to help his son after the fall.
Sharing an update on Instagram, Jaret wrote: "His FIRST crowd surf was in a freakin CASTLE!!!
What a night! Even if they dropped my child on his head!
be safe out there, kids! Even with everybody paying attention, and honestly trying not to drop my child, sometimes GRAVITY just takes over! He’s just fine and I really appreciate everybody looking after him when he was on the bottom of the pile!"
In a video posted online, Jaret explained that Everett had specifically asked for his first crowd surfing experience to happen during the Cardiff Castle show.
The 54 year old musician said his son slipped head first and hit a plastic cable cover that ran between the stage and the sound desk.
Following the accident, Everett was examined by medical staff at the venue, and Jaret later reassured everyone that he was "fine," adding that his son had previously recovered from a concussion.
The incident has not put Everett off either, as he has already said he wants to crowd surf again in the future.
Elsewhere, Jaret recently declared that Bowling For Soup's upcoming album is the strongest record the band has ever made.
He explained that the project began last summer after SSL, the console company, invited the band to record a single song, Holding On To That Hate, to test some of its latest equipment.
He told ContactMusic.com: “We went into the studio just to do one song.
“But we loved it. We realised, man, this is f****** great! It was our first song as a three piece and I was like, ‘Guys, I think I’ve got the fever. Let’s just f****** do it!’”
Jaret also praised bassist Rob Felicetti for making a much bigger creative contribution during the sessions.
He said: “Rob really stepped up.
“He co wrote three songs on the last record. He’s got six or seven on this one. We recorded 18 songs in 12 days and I couldn’t be more proud.”
Looking back at the band's catalogue, Jaret admitted he believes the new album stands above much of their recent work.
He admitted: “As I look back, I think Sorry For Partyin’ in 2009 was the last great, great, great record we did.
“There’s stuff on the last two where I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe I shouldn’t have put that on there.’ But there is not one stinker on this album. It’s so f****** good it’s weird to talk about.”
He even believes the trio may have created the finest album of their career.
He said: “We’ve all said this might be the best Bowling For Soup album ever, which is crazy, right? Drunk Enough To Dance changed people’s lives. Hangover You Don’t Deserve, The Great Burrito Extortion Case... all of that. But I’m very excited.”
Despite the excitement, listeners will have to be patient before hearing it.
Jaret said: “We were going to rush it out, but that makes zero sense.
“I’m on the road with Frank [Turner], then Simple Plan. So we’re probably looking at the autumn or even early next year, but it’ll be worth the wait.”
The band's most recent studio album was 2022's Pop Drunk Snot Bread.
Bowling For Soup are currently on the road with Frank Turner as part of the Bowl My Bones tour.
Their next performance is scheduled for 24 July at The Pearl Theater in Las Vegas.
