Artist Spotlight: Jon Mads Blue
Jon Mads Blue is a singer/songwriter who returned to music after decades away, reconnecting with his childhood passion for guitar and songwriting. His single “New Car,” from the upcoming album GRAVITY (no situation), is a fun pop/rock song about a man who loves his car more than his girlfriend, blending humor with relatable storytelling.
Jon’s music is focused on positivity, good vibes, and escapism, with the goal of making listeners feel happy and enjoy the moment.
We sat down with Jon Mads Blue to talk about their creative journey, inspirations, and what’s next.
Eye On Pop: What’s the most significant change you’ve seen in yourself since starting your music career?
Jon Mads Blue: Since I began this journey a little over two years ago, I’ve reached a point where I can share my music freely without feeling pressured or inhibited.
Eye On Pop: What accomplishment in your career are you most proud of?
Jon Mads Blue: I am incredibly proud to have completed my first album consisting of 10 tracks, and I already have more material in the hopper.
Eye On Pop: How do you balance your personal life with your music career?
Jon Mads Blue: It isn't always easy, but you have to make the time for it. Finding that balance is the key.
Eye On Pop: What’s your philosophy on failure and success?
Jon Mads Blue: To this point, I haven’t experienced the level of success I would prefer, but I haven't experienced failure either.
Eye On Pop: Can you walk us through your typical songwriting process?
Jon Mads Blue: Sometimes I start with a small piece of melody in my head, and other times it’s specific words or lyrics. I’ll play the idea out on my phone, and then record it on my DAW. Some songs flow out naturally—which are usually the best—while others are carefully crafted over time.
Eye On Pop: Where do you find inspiration for your lyrics and melodies?
Jon Mads Blue: Inspiration comes from observing my surroundings and letting what I hear come out onto a recorder.
Eye On Pop: How has your relationship with songwriting evolved over the years?
Jon Mads Blue: I’ve been writing for just over two years now. My goal is to move toward more experimental songs while maintaining a strong melody; if a listener can remember my songs and hum them, I consider that a success.
Eye On Pop: How do you separate creating meaningful work from chasing trends?
Jon Mads Blue: I don’t listen to much radio. I use a listening system that generates similar styles to what I like, and while I enjoy many newer artists, I feel I have my own style. Many people describe it as "throwback," which might be a reflection of my perspective at 61 years old.
Eye On Pop: What excites you most about the chapter you're stepping into now?
Jon Mads Blue: I am looking forward to personal growth and seeing exactly where this path takes me.
Eye On Pop: What should fans be paying attention to next?
Jon Mads Blue: I will be releasing a new single on the first Friday of every month until my album, "GRAVITY," is released in its entirety.
