Dionne Warwick has shared that she is currently unable to stand or walk because of a health problem.
The legendary vocalist was scheduled to appear at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Sunday for Deborah Silver & Fabulous Friends: Voices for ALS, a charity event supporting the fight against ALS.
However, the 85 year old singer had to withdraw from the performance because of her ongoing health difficulties.
"I'm sorry to have had to cancel the chance to see you all at Carnegie," Warwick explained in a statement, according to Page Six.
"My leg and foot would not allow me to stand nor walk at the moment."
The I Say a Little Prayer singer also opened up about her condition, revealing that she had been dealing with considerable pain.
Warwick said she would be stepping away from her professional commitments for a while to give herself time to recover.
"Due to the pain, I just couldn't do anything other than cancel my appearance this time, as I focus on rest and recovering from it," she continued.
Acknowledging that the news would disappoint her devoted fans, the Grammy Award winner appealed for their patience and understanding as she prioritises her health.
"Only the pain and inability to stand or walk is the reason for my absence," Warwick stressed.
