Cardi B has announced that Janet Jackson, Selena Gomez, and Lizzo will appear on her new album Am I the Drama?
The WAP rapper joined forces with Spotify on Monday (September 15) to reveal the list of artists featured on her long-awaited second studio album, which will arrive on Friday (September 19).
Cardi shared on social media: “WHO ELSE IS THE DRAMA?”
The lineup of collaborators also includes Meghan Thee Stallion, Kehlani, and Tyla.
Although the full track list has not been revealed, the album will include several reunions. Cardi previously worked with Kehlani on the song Ring from her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy. She also teamed up with Selena on DJ Snake’s viral hit Taki Taki in 2018 and joined Lizzo for Rumors in 2021.
In the lead-up to the album’s release, Cardi has been actively promoting the project, even hitting the streets of New York to connect with fans.
Speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 32-year-old said: “I am so overwhelmed... It’s like I’m pushing another baby.
It was completely completed and this is what’s missing out there. I touch on everything I wanted to touch.”
Cardi recently explained that she took seven years to release her second album because she is “very picky.”
The Money rapper told Billboard: “I always knew that I was going to drop a second album, I just didn’t have a project well put together.
My fans be like: ‘Oh, you should have put a project together when WAP and Up was out’ [in 2020 and 2021 respectively] but I only had four records that I liked.
I didn’t have an album done around that time. I’m not the kind of person that’s going to lock in in two months and complete an album. I’m very picky with my music.”
She continued: “I want to put out this whole project because I have a lot of songs. I recorded 60 songs. Every other day, I’m a different person, I change my mind [about everything].
My team is always like: ‘I hope you don’t change your mind about your songs.’ I’m like: ‘Nope. I’m settled.’”
Cardi also emphasized that while she earns more from performing live than releasing albums, she didn’t want to rush this record just to launch a tour.
She explained: “A lot of people say I got comfortable because I make money, but the most money I make is when I go and do shows...
I could rush and put out music like it’s nothing and then pick up millions of dollars per show, but it’s not about that. I want the music to be great. I want it to be amazing.”
