Kneecap have released a new track titled “No Comment,” which takes on the terrorism charge against member Mo Chara that was dismissed in September.
“It is all about the police witch hunt against Mo Chara. Free Palestine. Free the 6 counties, Fuck the peelers,” the group wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday. “We are performing it live on our current sold out tour across Europe, Scotland, Wales and England.”
In another statement, shared by Pitchfork, Kneecap said “No Comment” focuses on “getting harassed by the British state,” adding, “Simple as. Us Irish are well used to it, been happening for centuries. Was a pleasure to work with Sub Focus on this, the man is a legend.”
The case against Mo Chara, whose real name is Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, was dismissed in a London courtroom on technical grounds, after a judge determined that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had not filed the charge before the deadline.
The Belfast artist was accused of showing a Hezbollah flag during a Kneecap performance in London in November 2024, but authorities did not learn of the allegation until April 2025, following controversy surrounding the band’s criticism of Israel and the war in Gaza during their Coachella appearance.
Ó hAnnaidh was later charged in May, though his attorneys sought to have the case thrown out, arguing that the charge was submitted one day after the six month time limit for such cases had passed. Judge Paul Goldspring agreed with the defense, describing the charge as “unlawful and null.”
In early October, CPS revealed that prosecutors in the U.K. would appeal the dismissal, with a spokesperson saying, “We are appealing the decision to dismiss this case as we believe there is an important point of law which needs to be clarified.”
In a statement posted on Instagram, Kneecap responded to the appeal by calling it “unsurprising,” while also labeling it a “massive waste of taxpayers money, of police time, of court time.”
