Known for breaking barriers and touching hearts, riconoflow shares what continues to move them — both on stage and off.
Eye On Pop: When did you begin to see music as more than a personal outlet?
riconoflow: That was a year ago in Jan 2025. Up to that point, I was making music and releasing it, but that was the first time I sat down and made a true business plan. I open a calendar and schedule all my releases for that year (one per month), make a budget for each release and outline a marketing strategy for each release. Of course, as you go, you learn and perfect the process, but the blueprint was created at that point.
Eye On Pop: How have your life experiences influenced the way you approach your work today?
riconoflow: My work is a mix of my personal real-life experiences with a touch or twist of fiction. So my life experiences are fundamental for me to create my art.
Eye On Pop: Has your perspective on music changed since you first started releasing material publicly?
riconoflow: For sure, I am much more empathetic to fellow artists as I have a much better understanding of what it takes to create and release your art.
Eye On Pop: What personal traits do you think most influence your creative decisions?
riconoflow: Mindfulness. Staying in the moment and not overthinking things makes it easier to make decisions.
Eye On Pop: How do ideas for new songs or projects usually take shape for you?
riconoflow: I'm a singer and songwriter, so I don't tend to have too much involvement with the creation of the beat. I create all of my lyrics and melodies on the spot as I record. I believe they call this the "punch in" method. It's not the same as freestyling because I stop and think before recording each line.
Eye On Pop: What helps you stay productive during periods of creative uncertainty?
riconoflow: The way I create my music gives me a huge advantage for staying productive because it's very intuitive, it feels more like having a conversation than anything else. And there's always something to talk about, right?
Eye On Pop: How do you typically move from an initial idea to a finished piece of work?
riconoflow: My process is pretty simple and kind of resembles a meditation. Since I'm creating on the spot, right before diving in and choosing a beat to work on, I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths. I look to empty my mind and bring myself completely to the moment. I open myself so I can hear what the beat is asking me for or what ideas/words/melodies pop into my mind. Sometimes I might complete an entire song in hours, and sometimes it's days, but I just can't leave anything unresolved. I always finish every song I start, even though most don't get released.
Eye On Pop: What part of the creative process do you find most challenging?
riconoflow: The creative process is actually the easiest part for me. The more challenging part is the marketing side of the business. I'm always trying different ways to get the music out there. I think this is such an important piece of the puzzle, and sometimes it is not given the right amount of attention.
Eye On Pop: How would you describe the elements that define your sound today?
riconoflow: I'm moving more and more towards electronic music-type beats, my vocals and melodies are urban-oriented, and my Brazilian blood mixed with being in America for almost half of my life brings a unique flavour to the mix. The sound is sexy and upbeat.
Eye On Pop: How do you approach evolving musically while maintaining consistency in your work?
riconoflow: The way I see it, evolution is a byproduct of consistency. In order to evolve, you need to be consistently working on your craft, so the more consistently I work on it, the more I evolve.
