Artist Spotlight: Pran
Unlike artists who arrive fully formed, Pran’s journey has been intentionally hands-on and experimental. He began exploring music production at just 13 years old, developing foundational skills through trial and error on GarageBand before he ever considered writing lyrics. While production came first, songwriting followed naturally—only about two years ago—making this current era a formative one for the young artist.
As an icon who’s never stopped evolving, Pran gives us an inside look at the art of staying true while pushing forward
Eye On Pop: How do you personally measure growth as an artist?
Pran: I feel like I’m not really at a phase yet where I really know what growth means as an artist, so right now I'm just trying my best to put in as much effort into every song. Personally, I think being an artist is not really about how big or how popular my song becomes. Of course, it’s a good sign business-wise if my song becomes popular, so I’m just going to keep trying to promote it.
Eye On Pop: What impact do you hope your work has on those who spend time with it?
Pran: I hope they enjoy it and resonate with it, maybe even find healing and I hope that they keep coming back for more.
Eye On Pop: What areas of your artistry are you most focused on developing next?
Pran: Right now, it’s just a process of trying new things as much as possible and seeing what work and what doesn’t. That process includes trying to improve my skills as a musician and trying to be better at playing instruments and taking some dance lessons, so I’m better when I’m performing.
Eye On Pop: How do you envision the next phase of your creative journey?
Pran:I see myself just spending lots of time in the studio and recording so many different songs, and also more collaboration with different artists. I also see myself starting to perform live in front of a bigger crowd.
Eye On Pop: How do you maintain a connection with listeners as your work evolves?
Pran: One way I’m doing this is to keep my lyrics as authentic as I can, so it’s like I’m actually there communicating with the listener.
Eye On Pop: What role do listeners play in motivating you to continue creating?
Pran:It can be very healing for me, especially when I’m tired or thinking about quitting. Knowing that there are people who like listening to it makes me feel less lonely in a way, and it feels like I’m being heard.
Eye On Pop: How did the creation of this project differ from your earlier work?
Pran: Usually, I start my work from scratch from the sound and ideas in my head, but this one I had help from my manager, who sent me another song to reference as an idea I could try. After that, the rest of the idea just flow and I’m able to finish the song.
Eye On Pop: What aspects of your latest project feel most representative of where you are now?
Pran: Mainly the message of the song. I feel like I've accepted myself to the point where I’m fine with myself, no matter what happens in my life.
Eye On Pop: Were there any unexpected challenges that shaped the final outcome?
Pran: There’s not that many challenges when I produce the song. But for the music video, I’ve only slept for two hours before coming to set, and I felt like a zombie. That might influence the final product and made me have less energy in the video, but it also made me less nervous cause I can mostly think about sleep and caffeine.
Eye On Pop: What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned navigating the music industry?
Pran: Mostly just to focus on myself and really stay true to my values and messages. It’s really easy for me to compare my work with other people, and that makes me feel like I’m not good enough. I learned that even a “successful artist can also have self-doubt, so in the end it’s all just in my head”. At the end of the day, it’s about creating Art not a contest to measure who’s the most popular Artist but you can be inspired by other artists to improve yourself instead.
