The latest Official Albums Chart Update points to a tight battle for Number 1 this week, with Vermont artist Noah Kahan currently out in front. His fourth studio release, The Great Divide, leads the midweek standings and could earn him a second UK chart topper if it holds its position, following the success of Stick Season, which has now reached 150 weeks inside the Top 100.
Still, the competition remains wide open. Right behind him are Foo Fighters, whose latest project Your Favorite Toy currently sits at Number 2. The band’s 12th studio album is aiming to become their seventh UK Number 1.
Following the cinema debut of the much anticipated biopic Michael, Michael Jackson is making a strong return on the charts. Four of his records are on track to land inside the Top 40, led by Michael Songs From The Motion Picture at Number 4, alongside Number Ones at 7, Thriller at 18 and Bad at 22.
Paul Weller is also closing in on a milestone. His live release Weller At The BBC Vol 2 is projected to debut at Number 5, which would give the former The Jam frontman his 25th solo Top 10 album. Meanwhile, Pink Floyd could return to the Top 10 with Live From The Los Angeles Sports Arena April 26th 1975, currently expected to land at Number 9 following its standalone physical release.
The mysterious Lausse The Cat is aiming for a first ever chart appearance, with The Mocking Stars sitting at Number 10 thanks to new vinyl editions. Elsewhere, Kehlani is on track for her third Top 40 entry with her self titled album at 29, while Ringo Starr could return to the Top 40 for the first time since 2007 with Long Long Road at 31. Rounding things out, Status Quo continue to show their staying power, with Live At Hammersmith 79 on course to become their 44th Top 40 album at Number 32.
