Barbie Ferreira has opened up about her experience working with Charli XCX, describing her as a “cool girl.”
The Euphoria actress, who has been familiar with the British pop star for years and calls herself an early supporter, spoke about teaming up with Charli on her first acting project in the upcoming horror film Faces of Death.
“I mean, this was the first acting role she ever filmed, and now she’s this huge movie star and pop star,” she told Deadline. “You have to understand, this all happened before her 2024 album Brat. We were early fans. I’ve known Charli for a long time, and I’ve always followed her music across all her albums and gone to her shows.”
She continued, “It was her first time acting, and it was amazing to witness.”
Even though she supported Charli before Brat, Barbie emphasized just how impactful the album was for her during summer 2024.
“That Brat Summer was everything for me,” she said. “I probably went to around 17 shows. Thanks, Charli, for hooking me up with tickets.”
The actress also shared how interesting it was to see their careers cross paths in such a different setting.
“It was really interesting to see her step into my space, which is way less polished, where we’re filming in Louisiana on this indie style horror project, working long 15 hour days with call times at 4 in the morning,” Barbie explained. “It was fun to see her in that environment and not just as the glamorous pop star everyone knows, but fully in character.”
After completing Faces of Death, Charli quickly began building her acting resume. Many of her projects have screened at festivals, while 100 Nights of Hero and her mockumentary The Moment have already been released.
Faces of Death is currently playing in cinemas across the United States.
