Jack Osbourne has confirmed that the long discussed biopic about his parents, Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne, is officially moving forward and is currently expected to arrive in 2028.
The movie was originally announced back in 2021 and will focus on the relationship between the Prince Of Darkness and his wife and longtime manager Sharon. The script is being written by Oscar nominated screenwriter Lee Hall, known for Rocketman and Billy Elliot, while Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment are developing the project.
Last August, reports suggested the film was still in active development following Ozzy’s death the month before at the age of 76. Earlier this year, Jack also revealed that a “phenomenal” actor had already been chosen for the lead role.
Now, Jack has provided another update through his YouTube channel. “I can tell you this: we are moving ahead,” he said (via Blabbermouth). “I was on calls today about it. The script is right there. We are good. This movie will absolutely happen.”
Speaking about when fans can expect the film, he explained: “Realistically — I mean, look, we’re already halfway through ’26 — it probably won’t come out until ’28. But you never know. But, yeah, we’re full steam ahead. We’re about to start going out and getting a director attached. So, fingers crossed. I’m really excited. It’s very much been a labour of love, of course. But, yeah, I’m excited — I’m excited for everyone to see this film.”
The update arrives shortly after another major music biopic, Michael based on the life of Michael Jackson, became a huge box office success following its release, with plans for a sequel already reportedly in motion.
In other developments, homelessness charity Centrepoint recently ended its association with Sharon Osbourne after she appeared to show support for a far right rally connected to Tommy Robinson. The organisation stated: “This sort of event does not align with our values”.
