OOLTEWAH, TN - Cartinglee is an artist as well as a teacher who is sharing her soul and experiences through her music. Her distinct blend of sounds, as brought together by her past and her environment, meld beautifully with insightful lyrics that lead to tracks like the ones on her latest album, A Little Fog.
This project, which began in February of 2020 as a way for Cartinglee to improve her connection to her own written works, has since grown into the story of how we will survive the world we live in today.
The storyline of this album did not come into its own right away. “It wasn’t until I really started to get into and arrange the songs that I noticed a story that felt familiar,” Cartinglee explained. “It was like experiencing this breaking wave of anxiety and not being sure whether it was in the future or the past.” In times such as this, Cartinglee’s feelings are something with which we can all relate.
Cartinglee’s experience of the world today continues to relate to her music in a variety of ways, whether through the impact of her own personal experiences or things that we as a collective society feel together. Tracks such as “Only The Winter” express feelings that we can all relate to at different times. “There’s something special about ‘Only The Winter’”, she explained. “I played it at a solstice gathering with some very close friends for the first time and by the end we were all crying. It came to my mind, ‘How is this so meaningful?’” The song itself is a metaphor for dying as someone who was loved and a hope that we can all feel so connected throughout our lives that we too may die this way.
This album was built on spare minutes and late nights, and because of that, it gave Cartinglee a chance to really think through every move she made, allowing the tracks to become more and more perfect over time. It was this work that helped to fully create the feelings she expresses in the album and share them with the world.
Following the digital release of A Little Fog, Cartinglee is excited to also release a vinyl copy of the album. This paired with the collection of live performances she is preparing will already make for an incredible year for this busy and talented artist. She is also looking forward to helping out with other projects through the Sha Sha collective that she is involved in and other singles that she is planning to release.
